De rol

We’re looking for someone to join the editorial leadership of fern. As (Junior) Editor-in-Chief, you will take on significant responsibilities including strategy, management, editorial excellence, team leadership, developing topics, and maintaining quality. We will assess your skills as a journalist, writer, and manager to ensure you can fulfill this role effectively.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Support and supervise a writer throughout the script development process.
• Help shape key ideas, structure, dramaturgy, and tone.
• Ensure adherence to journalistic standards and sourcing guidelines.
• Provide feedback and edit across multiple rounds.
• Collaborate with the editorial team on stories and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to shaping our editorial vision and providing the channel with a strategic voice.
• Participate in topic development.

Vereisten

• Several years of experience in journalism, ideally in video journalism.
• Experience in podcasting or audio is also welcome.
• Outstanding storytelling instincts with the ability to turn topics into compelling stories.
• Strong journalistic standards and solid sourcing skills.
• Organized work style, leadership ability, strong communication skills, and sensitivity in conflict resolution.
• Native English speaker.

Gewenst

• Prior experience leading editorial work or managing larger editorial projects is a bonus.
• Experience with investigative reporting is a plus.
• Familiarity with YouTube is advantageous.
