We are recruiting a skilled Dutch Freelance Computational Linguist to support a multilingual AI data project centered on speech transcription and annotation. This is a remote, project-based opportunity with flexible hours.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing high-quality, verbatim transcriptions while adhering to transcription conventions, formatting standards, and project-specific guidelines. Your tasks will include accurately transcribing and annotating complex audio recordings, which may feature overlapping speech, background noise, multiple speakers, varying accents, fast-paced conversations, and inconsistent audio quality.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality, verbatim transcriptions according to established conventions.
• Accurately transcribe and annotate complex audio recordings.
• Review and adhere to detailed annotation guidelines.
• Tag and annotate audio per project requirements, including speaker segmentation and timestamps.
• Evaluate tasks and assign appropriate statuses as per project guidelines.
• Conduct thorough self-reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time targets.

Requirements

• Idiomatic fluency in Dutch with excellent grammar and orthography knowledge.
• Advanced English comprehension and communication skills.
• Degree in linguistics, computational linguistics, language technology, phonetics, NLP, or a related field.
• Experience with speech data, transcription, linguistic annotation, or language-data quality assurance.
• Ability to interpret detailed guidelines and make consistent decisions.
• Excellent analytical, written communication, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with annotation platforms or language-data projects is preferred.
