About the Company

The Environmental Risk Assessment team consists of over 30 experts collaborating with government, NGOs, and industry to provide science-based tools and methods for environmental risk assessment.

The Role

You will be responsible for model development, programming, and interpreting results to support regulatory and research objectives within the Environmental Risk Assessment team. Your work will involve developing and applying environmental fate and behaviour models for soil, surface water, and groundwater systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply environmental fate and behaviour models for soil, surface water, and groundwater systems.
• Implement and improve model algorithms.
• Analyse and interpret simulation results for risk assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on exposure and ecotoxicology projects.
• Contribute to scientific publications and strategic development.

Requirements

• A PhD in environmental sciences, hydrology, or a related field from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental modelling.
• Excellent knowledge of processes controlling the behaviour and transport of chemicals in the environment.
• Strong programming skills in Python; knowledge of R, Fortran, or C is a plus.
• Strong scientific writing skills with a proven publication record.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while balancing scientific quality with financial results and deadlines.
• Customer-oriented, motivated, and committed team player with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• At least C1 level of English proficiency in both writing and speaking; knowledge of Dutch or willingness to learn is required.
