Do you enjoy creating embedded software that closely interacts with hardware? As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain software for Tacx smart trainer products, contributing to both new developments and enhancements of existing products. You will write and debug microcontroller code, balancing design trade-offs to optimize performance while considering memory, CPU speed, and cost. Utilizing tools such as hardware debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, you will collaborate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment to turn concepts into manufacturable products.

De Rol

As an Embedded Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Architecting, designing, and implementing microcontroller software solutions for Tacx cycling trainer products using C code.
• Bringing up software on bare boards and validating platform performance.
• Collaborating with manufacturing engineers to prepare products for manufacturing and implementing necessary interfaces for tests and instrumentation.
• Providing input to project managers for realistic scheduling.
• Distilling software requirements into executable tasks and coordinating software releases.
• Participating in peer code reviews and technical brainstorming sessions.
• Assisting Electrical/hardware engineers in creating new designs and ensuring hardware and software integration.
• Mentoring less experienced software engineers and interns.

Vereisten

We expect you to have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in software engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a similar field.
• Strong familiarity with the C programming language.
• Experience in creating software for microcontrollers in bare-metal or RTOS-based platforms.
• Experience with digital communication protocols like SPI, UART, and I2C.
• A basic understanding of physics, math, and mechanics as they relate to cycling.
• Experience with Python and other scripting languages is a plus.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills in English (Dutch is beneficial).
