The Central Science Team within Amazon’s People Experience and Technology organization (PXTCS) employs economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements that enhance Amazon and the lives, well-being, and value of work for Amazonians. Our interdisciplinary team merges scientific and engineering talents to develop and deliver measurable solutions.

We are seeking an Economist II who can structure complex business problems, refine them into specific scientific questions, and test these questions to derive insights. The successful candidate will collaborate with various science, engineering, operations, and analytics teams to estimate models and algorithms on large datasets, design pilots, measure their impact, and scale successful prototypes into improved policies and programs. You will lead teams of researchers to produce robust, objective research results and insights that can be effectively communicated to a broad audience within and outside of Amazon.
