As an Institutional Trader at Optiver, you will play a crucial role in decision-making and executing our large-order trading strategies by managing relationships with brokers and direct counterparties. We seek a unique combination of communication skills and quantitative abilities. Your daily interactions with external partners will provide essential market insights, which, when combined with your analytical skills and close collaboration with our Screen Traders, will enable you to negotiate optimal prices swiftly. This approach allows us to consistently operate at the forefront of the market.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Identifying and seizing market opportunities, both independently and as part of the trading team.
• Making rapid trading decisions that can significantly affect profitability.
• Continuously seeking new product and market opportunities to diversify strategies and maximize success.
• Enhancing execution and access to volume.
• Networking with other Institutional Traders and Screen Traders to ensure well-informed decision-making.
• Representing Optiver’s quotes and executing orders with major trading desks via phone, IM, and Bloomberg.
• Negotiating prices with brokers and relevant parties.
• Improving our systems and tools for effective data capture.
• Understanding and applying knowledge of exchange rules, regulations, and market structures.

Requirements

• High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively influence outcomes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English is required.
• 2-5 years of professional experience; previous experience in a similar role is beneficial, but transferable skills from other fields are also valuable.
• Minimum of a BSc in a quantitative or technical field.
• Ability to thrive under pressure, making quick decisions while managing a high volume of trades.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, detail-oriented, and competitive by nature.
