The Engineering team is part of the Sustainable Technologies for Industrial Processes (STIP) research group within TNO's Energy and Materials Transition (EMT) unit. This team collaborates closely with various research groups at the Petten site, leveraging extensive technical expertise to develop process plants and specialized equipment from concept to design.

The Role

As a mechanical engineer, you will join our Engineering team, collaborating with researchers to create innovative process installations and specialized equipment. Your responsibilities will include transforming initial ideas into functional systems, often involving unique designs that require interdisciplinary approaches. You will also engage in proposal preparation, evaluate quotations, and source components externally, such as for a demonstration plant producing ammonia from steel industry process gases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers to develop process installations and special equipment.
• Transform initial concepts into detailed, functional designs.
• Prepare proposals and evaluate supplier quotations.
• Select and request components from external sources.
• Summarize collected information in clear reports and overviews.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of working methods.

Requirements

• Higher professional degree (HBO) in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to independently deliver detailed designs based on 3D models, including analytical FEM and/or MathCad contributions.
• Experience with Creo Elements Direct Modelling or willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with PED is a plus.
• Proficient communication skills in Dutch and English.
