The Role

We are assisting a client in the renewable energy sector to find a skilled Owner's Engineer / Grid Advisory Specialist for a freelance project. This position will provide high-level technical guidance for utility-scale solar projects, collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

The Role

You will serve as the Owner's Engineer, guiding key technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on critical technical decisions across the project lifecycle.
  • Review and analyze design documentation, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and technical reports.
  • Identify optimization opportunities and potential technical risks.
  • Provide expert input on grid connection processes.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Grid Codes
    • DNO/TSO technical requirements
  • Support technical due diligence activities, including risk assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Benchmark technologies such as PV modules, inverters, and mounting structures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in utility-scale solar projects.
  • Strong background in grid compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in an Owner's Engineer or similar advisory role.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems and grid integration.
  • Experience working across multiple countries is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work remotely and collaborate with international teams.
