TOPIC Embedded Systems is a system developer with its office in Best. We develop embedded systems essential to many products manufactured by reputable high tech companies worldwide. These may include low level embedded software, but also application software, user interfaces, web or mobile applications or FPGAs. With our knowledge and expertise we carry out consultancy assignments, projects on site and at TOPIC’s own offices and we develop our own embedded products such as Miami, Florida and Dyplo. We often use these as part of the solution that we offer to our clients.

This has been our objective from the start in 1996 and since then our company has grown to 135 employees. TOPIC is a key player in the high tech sector. The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer proficient in C, C++, and Python, who will take responsibility for DevOps-related deliverables. The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and verification of software components across various applications, including driver control, algorithm development, UI, and human-machine interfaces. You will not only write high-quality software but also optimize the surrounding development ecosystem, set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and mentor junior engineers to promote technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and verify subsystems, modules, and components within embedded systems and middleware environments.
  • Write efficient, maintainable, real-time code in C++ and C.
  • Integrate software into complex hardware and software systems.
  • Apply Object-Oriented Programming, UML, unit testing, and modern design principles.
  • Initiate and implement improvements in the team’s DevOps practices.
  • Set up, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines (build, test, release).
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes to reduce manual work and errors using Python.
  • Support and guide colleagues in DevOps principles and practices through knowledge sharing and coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (Technical) Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a high-tech or embedded environment.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and C, along with knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with OOP, unit testing, Agile methodologies, and software design principles.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines; hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a significant plus.
