De Rol

As the Director of Operations, you will share responsibility for the integrated management of the Animal Sciences Group (ASG) alongside the Managing Director. You will serve as a strategic partner to institute managers, chair holders, and stakeholders both within and outside of WUR. Your focus will be on ensuring that operations are future-proof and that processes, systems, people, and resources contribute optimally to excellent research, education, and societal impact.

Verantwoordelijkheden

• Oversee financial management, including planning, budgeting, and risk management.
• Lead HR and organizational development initiatives, focusing on leadership and team capabilities.
• Ensure compliance and effective governance within the organization.
• Optimize processes and systems for facility and support services.
• Foster strategic collaborations within WUR and with external partners.
• Manage change and professionalization programs in a complex knowledge environment.

Jouw Team

You will collaborate with a team of professionals in Finance & Control, HR, Legal Affairs, Communication, Occupational Health & Safety, Environment and Safety, and Location and Facilities Management.

Werkomgeving: Animal Sciences Group

The ASG addresses significant global challenges, including climate change and biodiversity loss, through high-quality research and education in animal sciences. The group comprises 12 university chair groups and 3 research institutes, including Wageningen Livestock Research and Wageningen Marine Research.

• An academic level of working and thinking.
• Experience as a senior manager or director in a complex knowledge-based organization.
• Expertise in integrated operations, finance, and organizational development.
• Proven capabilities in change management and stakeholder engagement.
• A leadership style that fosters connections and strong communication skills.
• An affinity for science, education, and societal transitions.
• An international perspective and sensitivity to governance issues.

Fluency in English at a C2 level is required for this position. If you do not yet meet this level, we will support your development through our language center.

Wat We Bieden

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent employment conditions, including flexible working hours for a better work-life balance, sabbatical leave, study leave, and a strong focus on employee vitality. You will receive a competitive gross salary ranging from €7,914 to €10,792 for a full-time week of 36 hours, with the possibility of a 32-hour contract. Initially, a one-year contract will be offered, with the potential for renewal based on performance and financial circumstances.
