The Role

The Sales Development Representative is essential for driving growth at the top of the sales funnel within a specific segment or product. This role focuses on identifying, engaging, and qualifying potential customers through both inbound and outbound prospecting efforts. By understanding client needs, educating prospects, and generating qualified opportunities, the SDR plays a vital role in pipeline development and overall revenue success. Strong communication skills, curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment are crucial for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through various prospecting methods, including email, phone, social media, events, and campaigns.
  • Identify, research, and qualify prospective clients by understanding their needs, challenges, and readiness to engage with sales.
  • Create and execute outreach sequences, including personalized email campaigns and cold calls to penetrate accounts.
  • Engage with existing customers to identify cross-sell or expansion opportunities within the designated segment or product.
  • Educate and nurture leads to guide them toward a qualified meeting or the next step in their buying journey.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date lead and activity data in CRM and sales engagement tools.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to ensure a smooth handoff of qualified opportunities.
  • Work with Sales, Marketing, and other teams to continuously improve lead-generation processes, messaging, and workflows.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for qualified meetings, Sales Qualified Opportunities, and pipeline contributions.
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and skill development.

Requirements

  • Experience in a sales development, business development, or outbound commercial role (experience level may vary based on team needs).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage prospects through multiple channels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and remote-friendly environment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities and outreach activities simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding activity and pipeline-generation targets.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and finding solutions autonomously.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales engagement tools is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong growth orientation; adaptable to changes in processes, products, or market focus.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling outreach messages and campaign sequences.
  • Experience in HR tech, fintech, or high-growth startup environments is beneficial but not required.
  • Native/fluent in English and Spanish.
