From our high-tech facilities in Duizel (Eindhoven region), we design, test, and manufacture our own heat pumps—from initial concept to scalable production. In Duizel, engineering, prototyping, testing, and production come together, allowing you to work closely with other engineers and engage with hardware and real-world applications. Weheat is re-engineering the heat pump from the ground up, making home heating cleaner, smarter, and more affordable. Our facilities in the Eindhoven region and our hub in Utrecht allow us to design, build, and continuously improve our heat pumps. We prioritize data over opinion, rigorous engineering over quick fixes, and progress over process.

Every Weheat heat pump generates high-frequency telemetry, performance data, energy usage, and system behavior. Our software layer, Weheat Intelligence, leverages this data to optimize energy usage, transform homes into thermal batteries, and learn how each house heats and cools. As our fleet expands, the need for a reliable and well-structured data platform becomes essential, and that platform is your domain.

Your Mission

You will design, build, and evolve the data platform that powers Weheat, ensuring structure, reliability, and clarity across a data landscape that includes heat pump telemetry, energy optimization, fleet analytics, and business intelligence. Your work will serve as the backbone for engineers, analysts, and product teams.

Building the platform is only part of the role. A good data engineer not only moves data but also understands what to measure, how to measure it accurately, and when data may misrepresent the truth. You will verify whether averages are misleading, ensure appropriate outliers are considered, and confirm that the time window supports the conclusions drawn.

The Challenge

Full-Scope Data Platform: Architect and manage the platform that connects heat pump telemetry with business domains like sales, support, and operations, utilizing Databricks and modern data tools.
High-Throughput Telemetry: Build and maintain real-time and batch pipelines that process high-volume heat pump telemetry, including streaming algorithms for live health monitoring, anomaly detection, and fleet diagnostics.
Scalable Architecture: Design storage layers and governance that cater to diverse consumers from data scientists to business teams, each with varying latency and shape requirements.
AI-Ready Infrastructure: Structure the data platform with semantic clarity, metadata, and tooling readiness to enable AI-driven analytics, preparing Weheat for future technology adoption.
Analytical Judgment: Transform raw data into reliable metrics and actionable insights, selecting appropriate statistical methods, questioning assumptions, and clarifying complex findings for stakeholders.
Team & Leadership: Establish standards for Weheat's data philosophy, mentor a growing team, shape the roadmap, and cultivate a culture where decisions start with accurate data.
