Google is more than just a software company; our Hardware Operations team ensures the smooth functioning of the physical infrastructure that powers our search technology. As a Data Center Technician II, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software, including Google's Linux cluster. You will also manage the configuration of complex components like networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. In this role, you will participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans for projects. Your day will typically involve the manual movement and installation of racks, and while it can be physically demanding, you will enjoy working with cutting-edge computer technology. The Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains the architecture that supports everything our users see online, from data centers to the next generation of Google platforms. We take pride in being the engineers for engineers, often voiding warranties by disassembling and rebuilding equipment. Our goal is to keep networks operational, ensuring users have the best and fastest experience possible. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Experience performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and perform physical tasks over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
• Must be able to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift-based schedules.
