LEAD

Google is more than just a software company. The Hardware Operations team oversees the advanced physical infrastructure that powers Google's search technology. As a Data Center Technician II, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. You will also configure complex components including networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. You will participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop project contingency plans. Daily tasks involve the manual movement and installation of racks, which can be physically demanding, but you are enthusiastic about working with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Capability to lift/move equipment weighing up to 50lbs (23kg) and physically exert yourself over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift-based schedules as required.
