In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as the Cultural Studies Quality Assurance Lead, overseeing quality, consistency, and trainer performance in art history, visual culture, cultural studies, and humanities AI training projects. Your responsibilities will include reviewing AI-generated content, evaluating output quality, and providing precise feedback to ensure adherence to project guidelines.

This role is within a rapidly growing AI Data Services company that delivers training data for some of the largest AI firms and foundation-model labs globally. Your leadership in cultural studies quality will enhance the accuracy and cultural sensitivity of AI models.

The Role

You will assess work for various quality aspects, such as historical accuracy, visual-analysis quality, cultural context, and adherence to project-specific rubrics. You will also identify recurring quality issues, communicate updates to trainers and QAs, support onboarding, maintain documentation, and activate contributors who are not consistently engaged.

Responsibilities

• Monitor quality by spot-checking art history/cultural studies items and providing ongoing feedback.
• Evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy and nuance in explanations, analyses, and descriptions.
• Communicate updates to trainers and QAs regarding guidelines and quality expectations.
• Respond to trainer/QA inquiries about visual analysis, attribution, and cultural context.
• Manage activation of inactive contributors and track follow-ups.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including style guides and onboarding materials.
• Conduct onboarding/training sessions to explain project expectations and workflows.
• Ensure consistent application of review guidelines by all trainers and QAs.
• Flag culturally insensitive or unsupported claims in content reviews.
• Propose workflow improvements to enhance QA processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Art History, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
• Strong English communication skills for following guidelines and providing feedback.
• 3+ years of experience in art historical research or related humanities workflows.
• Deep understanding of art historical methods and visual analysis.
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and identify issues.
• Familiarity with areas such as ancient art, modern art, and cultural theory is preferred.
• Experience leading remote teams is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working with tools like Discord, Google Sheets, and project management systems.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Experience with AI training and data annotation is a strong plus.
