We are embarking on an innovative venture aimed at integrating new, high-value crops into controlled environment agriculture (CEA). Our company merges genetics, breeding, trait selection, and cultivation protocols to create crops that can be consistently cultivated in CEA and adapted for scalable commercial applications in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and agrifood sectors.

The Role

We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to translate this vision into a focused technology and product roadmap. In this role, you will steer the scientific and technological direction of the venture, integrating genetics, cultivation, product development, data, and commercial strategy into a coherent execution model.

Responsibilities

• Define the technology roadmap for the venture.
• Lead the development of genetics, cultivation protocols, and validation processes.
• Translate scientific opportunities into commercially viable programs.
• Build and manage the technology team.
• Coordinate with external research and development partners.
• Support intellectual property and platform decisions.
• Represent the technology strategy in discussions with investors and strategic partners.

Requirements

• Proven builder with strong technical judgment and a venture mindset.
• Ability to combine scientific credibility with execution capabilities.
• Experience transitioning from concept to protocol, protocol to product, and product to scalable business.
• Proficient across disciplines such as plant science, biotechnology, controlled environment agriculture, product development, and commercial strategy.
• Comfortable in an early-stage environment where structure is still developing and priorities shift rapidly.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in biotechnology, plant science, agritech, life sciences, or similar science-based innovation fields.
• Strong understanding of genetics, breeding, biological systems, cultivation, or related deep tech domains.
• Experience in building technology, R&D, or product programs from inception, connecting research, development, operations, and business objectives.
• Experience collaborating with external technical partners, research institutes, or innovation ecosystems.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of effective communication with investors, founders, scientists, and commercial stakeholders.
• Preferred experience in controlled environment agriculture, IP-driven innovation, platform development, venture building, or science-intensive sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food, health, or cosmetics.
