In this role, you will lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing and innovating communication within Amsterdam UMC. You will empower teams, establish conditions for ownership, and encourage professionals to take initiative while maintaining an overview and driving coherence, development, and results.

De Rol

As the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Hierarchical leadership of the Communication department staff, fostering team growth and self-organization.
• Selecting, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating employees, actively investing in their sustainable employability and professional growth.
• Collaborating with the Director of Communication to shape and guide change processes, team development, and cultural transformation.
• Creating conditions for effective collaboration within and between teams, driving frameworks that encourage independent work, and ensuring alignment in priorities, methods, and objectives.
• Managing effective and efficient operations, including capacity, prioritization, and reporting.

You will continuously contribute to the organization's direction, translating strategic developments into clear goals and policies for the Communication department. You will work closely with the Director of Communication, advising on complex issues.

Vereisten

• A proven people manager with the ability to navigate between strategy and execution.
• Strong directional and supportive skills, with a keen helicopter view to maintain oversight.
• Experience in fostering an environment where teams can grow and work independently.
• A master's degree or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience leading professionals in a dynamic, complex organization.
• Demonstrable experience in organizational and team development and guiding change processes.
• Strategic and tactical insight, with the ability to simplify complex issues into clear lines.
• Organizational sensitivity, connecting leadership, and decisiveness to advance teams and the department as a whole.
• Fluent in Dutch, both spoken and written.

Wat We Bieden

• A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position.
• Salary scale 14: €7,222 to €9,053 gross for a full-time position (dependent on education and experience), plus an 8.3% year-end bonus.
• Vacation hours: 194.4 hours per year for full-time employment, with the possibility of accruing additional hours.
• 100% public transport reimbursement. If you walk, bike, or drive, you will receive €0.21 per km (with a maximum of 40 km one way for cars).
• A beneficial bicycle scheme if you commute by bike.
