We are dedicated to supporting founders who are solving climate issues exclusively. We ask every new founder in our Venture Builder to aim for solutions that can reduce carbon dioxide or equivalent greenhouse gases by 10 million tonnes annually, and our support is tailored to help you achieve this goal.

Participating in our program offers a unique opportunity to meet exceptional science professionals who can become your tech co-founders, enabling you to create extraordinary climate tech solutions. The climate crisis doesn't allow for false starts; begin your entrepreneurial journey correctly with us, avoiding dead ends or incremental impacts.

We provide in-depth carbon knowledge training that will prepare you to build your startup in a way that attracts climate tech VCs. Our founders are not expected to outsource this knowledge; we train them to access the latest tools and techniques to assess their carbon mitigation potential, communicate effectively, and maintain transparency in their measurements.

The program features a flexible framework. While nine in-person days will take place in London/Cambridge, the rest of the program can be completed from anywhere in the world. We understand that you may have other commitments, such as caring for children or elderly relatives, and we believe that we cannot tackle the climate crisis without involving diverse life circumstances in the entrepreneurial journey. Our Venture Builder is designed with this principle in mind.

Carbon13 is sector-agnostic, allowing founders to explore ideas across any emitting industry. We customize our support for science-based, deep tech, or hardware ventures, whether it's assistance with go-to-market strategies, IP protection, fundraising, or team building. You'll have access to a network of hundreds of experts, peers, and partners.

Since 2021, more than 90 ventures have been launched through our program, with 46 receiving our pre-seed investment totaling £5 million. Over two-thirds of these ventures have already secured follow-on funding. If you already have a climate tech idea, the VC funding route is often the quickest and most reliable way to launch complex projects with a high decarbonization impact. Carbon13 is designed to provide your venture with the best entry point into this route. Our support is tailored to science-based startups aiming to reduce CO2e emissions by 10 million tonnes per year. If you do not have an idea, we will assist you in finding one that can significantly reduce emissions, or you can join a co-founder/team with strong insights into an emitting industry and work together to implement validated customer pain points.

At Carbon13, you will build a climate tech startup alongside a cohort of 80 founders. Our program amplifies your efforts because the planet cannot afford to waste time on theory or incremental ideas. The program is divided into three phases:

• Phase 1: Teaming & Ideation You will meet inspiring individuals and choose one or more co-founders to form a team, deciding whether to prioritize the idea or personal connection.

• Phase 2: Validation With the help of our Domain Experts and your personal Entrepreneur in Residence, your team will focus on strengthening the team, carbon intelligence, rapid iterations of concepts, business model formation, prototype testing, intellectual property, customer development, stakeholder development, behavior change, governance, and venture incorporation. At the end of this phase, we invest in the most convincing teams. If your team does not make it, your entrepreneurial journey continues with our support.

• Phase 3: Acceleration During this phase, your team will concentrate on market, product, business model, and strategy to prepare the venture for further seed-stage investment. We will also help you explore scaling strategies, manage growth challenges, and develop a funding strategy, ensuring numerous conversations with relevant impact investors from our network.
