Sumitomo Drive Technologies is seeking a CNC Machinist I to join our team in Marine City, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of 2 and 3-axis CNC machines, including lathes and mills, as well as manual and semi-automatic machinery. You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring high-quality production while adhering to safety standards.

The Role

As a CNC Machinist I, your daily tasks will include:

• Setting up, adjusting, and operating machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints in both imperial and metric standards.
• Calculating dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge.
• Following standard operating procedures and process sheets to meet production goals.
• Inspecting manufactured parts using measuring gauges to ensure adherence to drawing tolerances.
• Collaborating with supervisors and quality assurance to improve efficiency and prevent issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines and manual equipment to produce high-quality parts.
• Maintain and clean machinery regularly.
• Provide feedback on tooling and setups to enhance efficiency.
• Participate in team brainstorming sessions aimed at process improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience operating manual, semi-automatic, and CNC machine tools.
• At least 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Proficient in using measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Strong understanding of complex drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of geometry and trigonometry for calculating dimensions.
• Experience with various machining processes and equipment.
