BumaStemra is looking for a seasoned and connecting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chair of the Board who can guide the organization through its next phase within a collegial governance structure. The strategic direction focuses on strengthening reliability, realizing a shift towards a chain-oriented organization, and further developing international collaborations. The CEO brings calmness, direction, and cohesion. They are relationally strong, good listeners, and adept at connecting diverse interests, while also being decisive and results-oriented. The CEO will enhance leadership and culture, ensuring that initiated changes are effectively implemented and secured.

BumaStemra represents composers, lyricists, and music publishers, ensuring fair compensation for the use of their music across various platforms including radio, television, streaming services, venues, hospitality, and other forms of music usage. The organization consists of over 220 employees who work daily towards its mission: to achieve fair compensation for rights holders and to protect and enhance the value of music.

Behind this social mission lies a complex, large-scale transaction processing organization. The quality of data, systems, processes, and chain collaboration is directly critical for the accurate and timely collection and distribution of funds. Therefore, BumaStemra is focused on further strengthening its operational and technological foundation.

Digitalization, data, AI, and international standardization are increasingly demanding higher reliability, speed, and transparency in rights processing and distribution. At the same time, the competitive landscape has become more international. Rights holders, publishers, regulators, and sister organizations expect high quality, transparency, and timely services.

• Provides direction as chair of the Board and ensures the quality and coherence of governance decision-making.
• Shares overall responsibility for strategy, continuity, and development of BumaStemra with the CFO and COO.
• Translates the strategic direction into clear organization-wide priorities and monitors coherence and progress.
• Guides leadership, culture, and collaboration, ensuring that the various governance portfolios reinforce each other.
• Maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represents BumaStemra nationally and internationally.
• Directs international collaboration and relevant developments regarding copyright, AI, and the future landscape.
• Makes sharp choices in priorities, capacity, costs, and organizational structure when necessary.
