The Role

Position: Receptionist - Front of House

Location: Vinkveen, Utrecht region - The Netherlands

Department: Operations

Start Date: ASAP

Contract type: Seasonal (March – October 2026)

Working hours: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat plus either Tue or Thu (days off Tue and Sun or Thu and Sun)

The Role

Our base teams are crucial in delivering exceptional holidays, which is why many customers return year after year. As part of the Customer Experience team, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, playing a vital role in ensuring they embark on their cruise fully informed about exciting activities, restaurants, and sights to explore. This dynamic and enjoyable role requires a customer-centric approach along with strong sales and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Go above and beyond to ensure customers have the best possible holiday experience.
  • Create a friendly and welcoming environment at the base for customers at the beginning and end of their holiday.
  • Manage a seamless check-in process to ensure customers start their holiday well-informed and excited.
  • Provide local recommendations and advice on itineraries to enhance customers' time on board.
  • Upsell ancillary products, including collision damage waiver insurance and cleaning services.
  • Welcome customers back at the end of their holiday and oversee the checkout process.
  • Participate in establishing daily and weekly departure schedules using Neptune reservation software.
  • Update the Neptune database daily with additional customer/cruise information.
  • Promote the completion of online Customer Service Questionnaires (CSQ) and third-party review sites.
  • Ensure the reception area remains tidy and provides an excellent first impression.
  • Support colleagues in other departments as needed to prioritize customer experience.

Requirements

  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of the local area and tourist attractions (desirable).
  • Confident in upselling ancillary products to customers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Highly organized and responsive to competing demands.
  • Clear and timely communication with colleagues, head office, and customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Motivated to achieve the objectives of the base and the company.
  • Good spoken English and fluency in at least one of the following languages: Dutch, German, or French.
  • Flexible availability for weekends and holidays.
