The Role

As a Benefits Administrator, you will oversee and communicate employee benefit programs related to health, welfare, and retirement. Your responsibilities will include processing enrollment transactions throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation and coverage verification, and reconciling carrier invoices to maintain program integrity. You will also respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefits, ensuring timely processing.
• Coordinate benefit enrollment by communicating eligibility, distributing materials, processing elections, and confirming coverage with carriers.
• Process benefits for employment status changes and qualifying life events, verifying documentation and notifying carriers of adjustments.
• Support retirement plan administration by handling enrollment changes and data requests from the plan recordkeeper.
• Review benefit transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before submitting to carriers and payroll.
• Maintain confidential employee benefits records, auditing eligibility data for accuracy.
• Respond to inquiries regarding benefit plans, claims procedures, and coverage, resolving questions within service-level agreements.
• Collaborate with insurance carriers and HR teams to address eligibility, billing, and enrollment issues.
• Reconcile carrier invoices against enrollment records to identify discrepancies.
• Administer leave of absence programs, tracking leave dates and coordinating benefits.
• Submit required government filings and compile reports for audits and compliance reviews.
• Extract utilization data and participate in benefit surveys to assist in renewal analysis.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in administering group health, retirement, or leave programs, or in HR operations.
• Familiarity with federal/state/local benefits regulations and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in HRIS, benefits administration systems, payroll systems, and spreadsheet software.
• Preferred certifications include Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
