The Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer with over 3 years of experience to join our GRID team. You will own a vital aspect of Insify’s core platform, addressing complex domain requirements and creating clean, stable, and extensible abstractions for our insurance products across various jurisdictions. Your work will lay the foundation for other teams, making it essential to maintain high engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance the GRID platform, focusing on policy issuance, adjustments, renewals, and carrier integrations.
• Design product configuration systems for onboarding new insurance products and carriers without rewriting core logic.
• Maintain a clean policy administration layer that supports Insify's domain model.
• Create automated renewal workflows and migration tools for large-scale policy management.
• Implement underwriting and product configuration logic, including raters and field mappings.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product, and Insurance teams to translate carrier specifications into platform capabilities.
• Uphold engineering standards for correctness, configurability, and backward compatibility.
• Manage incidents and operational health, ensuring platform stability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably with TypeScript and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB).
• Strong instinct for abstraction and platform design, with the ability to create robust data models and API contracts.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and API design.
• Experience with multi-tenancy and configuration-driven systems in a regulated environment.
• Ownership mindset, taking responsibility for platform stability and extensibility.
• Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in using AI for coding and debugging to enhance productivity.

Nice to Have

• Experience in building insurance, fintech, or SaaS platforms with multi-tenant configurations.
• Familiarity with policy administration systems or insurance product configuration.
• Background in launching products in new markets, including regulatory challenges.
• Experience in developing internal back-office platforms for operational teams.
• Strong observability skills with tools like Sentry or Datadog, and a history of managing production systems at scale.
