The Role

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, known for our widely used platform, Ubuntu, which supports initiatives in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineer to enhance our presence in critical sectors such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Consumer Electronics. If you have a deep passion for Linux and are skilled in system debugging, software design, and distribution packaging, this role could be an exciting opportunity for you.

The Role

As an Embedded Linux Field Engineer, you will engage with customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology. You will elaborate on solutions for prospective clients, participate in the delivery of Embedded Linux projects, and act as both a customer advocate and a trusted advisor to Canonical.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers to gather requirements and explain our technology.
  • Develop solutions to propose to potential clients.
  • Participate in the delivery of selected Embedded Linux projects.
  • Communicate market requirements to key stakeholders and assist in developing solutions to unlock market potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Experience in distribution/packaging (deb, rpm, etc.).
  • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, etc.).
  • Proficiency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Professional written and spoken English, along with proficiency in the local language.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings and events.
  • For positions in Japan and Korea, fluency in the local language is required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with customer engagements is a plus but not required.
