In this remote contractor position, you will serve as the Astronomy Quality Assurance Lead, responsible for maintaining quality and consistency across various astronomy and astrophysics AI training projects. Your role will involve reviewing AI-generated content, evaluating the performance of trainers, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. You will assess scientific accuracy, mathematical correctness, and clarity of the content while providing detailed feedback to contributors. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying recurring quality issues and supporting the onboarding of new contributors.

The Role

You will be tasked with ensuring that astronomy and astrophysics training data meets high standards of accuracy and clarity. Your leadership will help enhance the quality of AI models by providing well-documented and scientifically sound training data.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality monitoring by spot-checking astronomy/astrophysics items and providing ongoing feedback.
• Perform scientific reviews of AI-generated content for accuracy and clarity.
• Communicate updates to trainers and QAs regarding guidelines and quality expectations.
• Respond to inquiries from trainers and QAs about scientific concepts and rubric interpretation.
• Manage activation of inactive contributors and track follow-ups.
• Create and maintain project documentation, including style guides and FAQs.
• Schedule and conduct onboarding sessions for new trainers and QAs.
• Ensure consistent application of review guidelines among all contributors.
• Identify quality gaps and propose improvements to QA processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or related field.
• Strong command of the English language for effective communication and feedback.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant scientific workflows.
• Deep understanding of celestial mechanics, cosmology, and observational methods.
• Familiarity with tools like Python and scientific visualization preferred.
• Experience leading remote teams is strongly preferred.
