Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure-Track) in Photographic Practice at the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM). The ADM aims to be Asia's premier center for interdisciplinary humanities, arts, and social sciences, focusing on key areas such as Digital Culture and Society, Health, Culture and Society, Global Asia, and Art, Science and Ecology.

The successful candidate will be an artist-scholar with a strong foundation in photography, extending their practice into still, moving, or installation media. They will critically examine the role of photography in contemporary society, demonstrating an experimental yet analytical approach to their work. A robust educational background, a strong portfolio of creative practice, scholarly publications, and positive teaching feedback are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong, independent research portfolio while fulfilling teaching and service commitments.
• Produce high-quality scholarly or creative work that advances the discipline.
• Integrate research-led instruction into classroom teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Mentor students in their thesis projects and enhance the student experience through active engagement in school initiatives.
• Foster partnerships with global practitioners and contribute to the intellectual environment of the institution.

Requirements

• A PhD (or Practice-based PhD) in Photography or a related field; terminal MFA or substantial practice-based industry experience may also be considered.
• Proven track record in Photographic Practices and/or theory, with traditional and non-traditional research outputs.
• Experience in teaching and mentoring students.
• Strong collaborative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Industry experience and established professional networks or a solid research track record.
• Commitment to creative excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration within a research-intensive environment.
