The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AOCS Systems and Pointing Support Engineer for our on-site service at ESTEC in the Netherlands. Candidates must be eligible for a security clearance from an EU Member State national security administration.

Responsibilities

Assist in defining AOCS requirements and contribute to the development of System/Mission Requirements related to the AOCS domain.
Support analyses and trade-offs for AOCS systems, software, and hardware units.
Conduct AOCS and Pointing performance analyses and performance budgeting.
Monitor industrial activities regarding the design and development of AOCS systems, software, and hardware for ESA projects.
Review project documentation related to AOCS and Pointing engineering throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop and maintain engineering support tools for AOCS and Pointing tasks.
Support procurement of AOCS hardware units and participate in hardware reviews.
Aid in the verification and validation process of AOCS systems across all project phases.
Provide expertise in AOCS and Pointing disciplines to AIT and AIV processes and in-flight activities.
Contribute to the definition, analysis, and verification of AOCS-level and system-level Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR).
Support feasibility studies and project reviews in AOCS and Pointing.
Assist in defining AOCS and Pointing technology development needs for ESA's technology programs.
Collaborate with ESA staff in managing AOCS and Pointing R&D activities.
Participate in R&D activity reviews and report on progress and planning.
Disseminate results of AOCS and Pointing activities and transfer knowledge across the agency.
Introduce lessons learned and important information from R&D developments and project support.
Support R&D activities for mission-enabling AOCS concepts, simulation modeling, and advanced techniques.
Provide engineering support to AOCS and Pointing Systems facilities.
Assist laboratory activities for evaluating and prototyping new AOCS systems and functions.
Help ongoing projects with design implementation, testing, evaluation, and validation.
Perform integration, functional, and performance testing of hardware and software elements.
Document test and validation activities and results, including equipment setup and failure incidents.
Manage facility planning in accordance with ESA Quality Management System.
Define and develop in-flight experiments to de-risk AOCS systems or elements.
