The Role

We are seeking a skilled Market Data Analyst with a deep understanding of the production, distribution, and consumption of market data within trading systems. This role goes beyond vendor coordination; you will need to grasp how data flows from exchanges and vendors into internal systems, its application by traders and researchers, and the potential issues that may arise. Collaborating closely with trading, development, and infrastructure teams, you will ensure the reliability, appropriateness, and governance of market data.

The Role

You will take ownership of the entire lifecycle of market data, from sourcing to consumption, while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of its integration into trading systems and research platforms. Your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the sourcing, delivery, normalization, storage, and consumption of market data.
  • Investigating data issues across vendors, feeds, internal pipelines, and consuming systems.
  • Acting as the escalation point for market data problems affecting trading or research.
  • Collaborating with traders and developers to translate trading requirements into actionable market data solutions.
  • Managing relationships with exchanges and vendors, ensuring compliance with licensing rules.
  • Overseeing entitlements, audits, and internal controls for market data usage.
  • Clearly communicating technical data issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Market Data, Trading Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Direct experience with exchange data and market data vendors.
  • Strong understanding of market data usage in automated trading and research systems.
  • Familiarity with various data types and quality nuances, including tick data vs aggregated data, latency and sequencing issues, data gaps, corrections, and quality problems.
  • Comfortable engaging with engineers regarding system behavior and data flows.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python for analysis, validation, or automation.
