The Role

As a Mechanical Architect, you play a vital role in addressing complex business challenges and shaping technical roadmaps from a mechanical standpoint within a multidisciplinary environment. You will assist our clients in the high-tech sector in developing innovative equipment, both locally in the Brainport region and on an international scale. Collaborating with experts in mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software, and mathematics, you will help bring high-tech solutions to fruition, including advanced lithography machines, compact electron microscopes, and medical devices for automating human tissue analysis.

The Role

From our office in Eindhoven and occasionally at client sites, you will engage in:

  • Close collaboration with customers, architects, the Project Manager, Account Manager, and the broader project team to ensure alignment and synergy.
  • Translating customer requirements into specifications, defining mechanical architecture, budgets, and conceptual designs for (sub)systems.
  • Specifying test and integration requirements to complete the V-model development cycle and ensure product design quality.
  • Building and maintaining both internal and external networks to support organizational growth and success.
  • Driving innovation by introducing new technologies and solutions, applying theoretical principles in practical project contexts.
  • Leading by example, motivating designers and engineers to take ownership of their deliverables.
  • Managing broader, more complex scopes of work, including stakeholder management, technical leadership, and guiding larger multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design within high-tech systems and/or equipment.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in mechatronic and precision system design, depending on seniority level.
  • Broad multidisciplinary orientation, understanding the integration of mechanical expertise within complex systems.
  • Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills, with proficiency in various analysis methods.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Recognized as a technical leader and inspirational coach, with deep theoretical and practical knowledge in technical design, mechanisms, precision mechanics, and Design for Excellence (DfX).

What We Offer

  • Flexible working hours (32-40 hours per week) with the option to work from home, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
  • 28 vacation days with the possibility to purchase an additional 12 days.
  • A collaborative environment with passionate colleagues who share your enthusiasm for technology and business success.
  • Freedom and responsibility in your role, with personal coaching and a training budget of €6000 per year for your professional development.
  • Opportunities for social engagement through various events, including family festivals, Christmas parties, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Access to our main office located in the heart of the Brainport region, featuring amenities for lunch, sports, music, and collaborative work in our Tech Labs.

We look forward to discussing this exciting opportunity with you!
