The Role

The Role

As the Finance Manager, you will oversee the finance function for two units of Gategourmet in the Netherlands while collaborating closely with the Managing Director and the Regional Finance team/CFO in Europe. You will also manage the service center in Belgrade, Serbia, ensuring robust financial control, supporting operational and commercial decision-making, driving cost efficiency, and maintaining compliance with IFRS and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop finance teams in the Netherlands and Serbia.
  • Drive financial performance as a key member of the local leadership team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to Group and Regional HQs by managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, as well as monthly business reviews.
  • Oversee unit-level budgeting, forecasting cycles, and annual Business Plans in alignment with group policies, collaborating closely with local Operations, Commercial, and Regional Finance teams.
  • Facilitate smooth interim and year-end internal and external audits, ensuring timely preparation and submission of statutory accounts.
  • Provide high-quality, timely financial decision support for customer tenders, CapEx evaluations, economic analysis, and cost-optimization programs.
  • Deliver reliable management information and drive financial accountability across departments.
  • Develop a strong understanding of key business drivers, identify performance gaps, and support units in implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage financial transaction processing, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations, optimizing cost and efficiency through outsourcing where appropriate.
  • Maximize free cash flow and ensure accurate cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and local tax regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and internal controls.
  • Act as senior finance lead on ad hoc projects and corporate development activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Controlling; preferably a qualified accountant or MBA.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial and management accounting, ideally in a multinational setting with increasing responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in designing and improving cross-functional processes (e.g., Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay).
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, NL GAAP) and local tax compliance.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and project management abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with leadership capabilities.
  • Proven people management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, engaging effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable working within a matrix organization with strong influencing skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply for a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and a Certificate of No Objection (VGB) (mandatory).
  • Willingness to undergo screening by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (must have lived consecutively in the Netherlands for the past eight years).
  • No criminal record.
