We are seeking a Director of Engineering Productivity to enhance our software development processes and boost team efficiency. This role will involve analyzing workflows, implementing best practices, and fostering collaboration across various engineering functions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the functioning of different roles through interviews and workflow observations, mapping jobs-to-be-done, dependencies, and process inefficiencies.
• Create and maintain a structured library of recurring tasks and subtasks across roles, including recommended tools, workflows, and best practices.
• Identify bottlenecks, handoffs, wait states, and rework within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and redesign workflows to enhance speed and quality.
• Assess opportunities for AI-assisted and tool-assisted workflows to significantly improve output quality, cycle time, and effort.
• Design and implement standardized internal tools, guides, and operating practices for contemporary software development, integrating agentic and vibe-coding workflows where applicable.
• Establish safe and practical standards for deploying AI-assisted or vibe-coded applications to production, covering review, testing, security, and sign-off requirements.
• Collaborate with leaders in Engineering, Product, QA, Data, Architecture, Security, and DevOps to optimize end-to-end software delivery.
• Promote the adoption of improved workflows through training, documentation, support, and close collaboration with teams.
• Develop internal knowledge systems to facilitate easier access to code, documentation, configurations, and operational knowledge in daily tasks.
• Conduct pilots and experiments to validate new productivity strategies, measure their impact, and scale successful practices.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, developer productivity, engineering management, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in software development and engineering workflows, with a deep understanding of tools, systems, and daily execution.
• Proven knowledge of the full SDLC, including planning, development, testing, release, operations, and cross-functional delivery processes.
• Demonstrated experience in enhancing developer productivity, engineering effectiveness, or software delivery processes at the team or organizational level.
• Strong grasp of how engineering, QA, analysts, product managers, and engineering managers collaborate in practice.
• Current knowledge of modern developer tools and platforms such as Git, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Gradle, CI/CD systems, Kubernetes, IDEs, and internal developer platforms.
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, release processes, environment management, observability, and production readiness.
• Strong analytical skills to break down work into tasks and dependencies, identify bottlenecks, and redesign workflows for improved speed and quality.
• Experience in conducting structured experiments or pilots, measuring impact, and scaling successful practices.
• Practical knowledge of modern AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows, with the ability to assess their effectiveness.
• Excellent communication skills to interview teams, understand actual working patterns, and translate findings into actionable improvements.
• Strong ownership and execution capabilities to independently drive ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from conception to implementation.
• Experience in leading small teams, coordinating cross-functional efforts, or influencing senior stakeholders is advantageous.
• Background in fintech, regulated environments, or secure software delivery is a plus.
