The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to assist in safeguarding systems, networks, and data. This remote role is perfect for individuals passionate about security, threat detection, and risk mitigation, offering a chance to gain hands-on experience in a solutions-driven environment aligned with US/EU time zones.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts and incidents.
- Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
- Identify and mitigate security risks and threats.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls and policies.
- Analyze logs from systems, networks, and applications for suspicious activity.
- Participate in incident response and documentation.
- Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Support compliance and audit-related security tasks.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of network security concepts (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Unix and Windows).
- Knowledge of common security principles (CIA triad, authentication, encryption).
- Understanding of web security basics (OWASP Top 10).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work remotely in EMEA time zones.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to security tools (e.g., SIEM tools like Splunk, Wireshark, Nessus).
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM).
- Knowledge of ethical hacking or penetration testing concepts.
- Relevant certifications (or in progress) such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, etc.
