The Role

As Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations and lead the kitchen team in their absence to ensure seamless service. You will train, coach, and motivate junior chefs to uphold consistent standards, contribute to menu planning and seasonal dishes, and oversee food quality and efficient preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations.
• Lead the kitchen team during the Executive Chef's absence to ensure smooth service.
• Train, coach, and inspire junior chefs to maintain high standards.
• Participate in menu planning, seasonal dish creation, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and preparation efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to hygiene, allergen, and food safety regulations.
• Manage ordering, stock levels, cost control, and waste reduction.
• Collaborate closely with Front of House teams to enhance guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
• Capability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality.
• Eligibility to work in the Netherlands and fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with banqueting, large-scale production, or events catering.
• Creative approach to menu and dish development.
• Strong understanding of cost control and stock management.
• Fluency in Dutch is a plus.
