The Role
Are you experienced in leading HVDC research, designing high-voltage switchgear, and transforming complex simulations into certified, grid-ready designs? If so, this role is for you! You will be responsible for R&D of next-generation HVDC systems and circuit breaker technology, validating SF6-free solutions, and developing tested prototypes in collaboration with European partners. Your work will involve close collaboration with experts in interrupters and DC circuit breakers, alignment with certification bodies in Arnhem, and contributing to the roadmap for a new European R&D center.
The Role
As an HVDC R&D Expert, you will spearhead research and development focused on HVDC system architecture, including modeling, simulation, control and protection, and system-level analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D for next-generation HVDC systems and circuit breaker technology, from modeling to validated prototypes.
- Plan validation and testing for SF6-free solutions in partnership with European collaborators and certification bodies in Arnhem.
- Conduct system-level analysis to support grid-ready designs and facilitate productization.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering with demonstrated experience in HVDC systems and high-voltage switchgear or circuit breakers.
- Practical experience with arc-quenching technologies and a thorough understanding of SF6 alternatives for GIS.
- Strong background in power-system modeling and simulation.
- Familiarity with European (specifically KEMA/IEC) testing and certification processes.
