The Role

The Sous Chef position at Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport is essential for providing a modern and consistent culinary experience, achieved through effective teamwork, high standards, and meticulous attention to detail. In this leadership role, you will facilitate smooth kitchen operations, mentor the team, and ensure our dishes meet the high expectations of our guests.

Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Schiphol Airport and 25 minutes from the city center. The hotel features 342 guest rooms, a brasserie, bar, and lounge, and offers free parking for both guests and team members, along with a complimentary shuttle service from Amsterdam Schiphol to the hotel, ensuring a hassle-free commute.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations.
  • Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef to guarantee seamless service.
  • Train, coach, and inspire junior chefs to uphold consistent standards.
  • Contribute to menu planning, seasonal dishes, and ongoing improvements.
  • Oversee food quality, presentation, and efficient preparation.
  • Ensure adherence to hygiene, allergen, and food safety protocols.
  • Manage ordering, stock levels, cost control, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with Front of House teams to enhance guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a hotel or high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining quality.
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands and fluent in English.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with banqueting, large-scale production, or events catering.
  • Creative approach to menu and dish development.
  • Strong understanding of cost control and stock management.
  • Fluency in Dutch is a plus.
