Join our client's team as a Backend Engineer specializing in JSON Schema and play a crucial role in converting complex raw documents into structured, actionable data. Utilize your skills in data modeling and schema design to create robust JSON extraction schemas from intricate PDFs, ensuring precise, scalable, and future-proof data solutions.

The Role

You will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing complex PDF documents (25-150 pages) to identify and model key data points. Your day-to-day tasks will include designing comprehensive JSON extraction schemas from scratch, determining optimal field extraction, data types, and logical structuring, including deep nesting and repetition patterns.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex PDF documents to identify key data points.
• Design JSON extraction schemas from scratch, optimizing field extraction and data types.
• Embed field-level validation logic, such as sum requirements and null-testing, within JSON schemas.
• Define and articulate API contracts for seamless integration and data flow.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify data requirements and refine schema designs.
• Document field definitions, required vs. optional status, and provide clear descriptions for maintainability.
• Promote best practices in data architecture for consistency, scalability, and reusability in schema development.

Requirements

• Proven experience in data modeling, database design, and schema development (preferably using JSON Schema).
• Advanced proficiency in designing deeply nested JSON structures.
• Strong architectural thinking to analyze unstructured documents and create organized information models.
• Expertise in embedding validation, field typing, and logical expressions in JSON schemas.
• Deep understanding of required vs. optional fields, type selection, and field-level documentation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex technical decisions.
• Proven ability to work independently in a distributed, remote environment.
