The Role

We are HAI Grill & Sushi Zutphen, seeking a dedicated Independent Working Chef Level I to enhance our kitchen team. If you are a talented chef who excels in a kitchen environment, this role is for you. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting dishes while working under the guidance of our head chef or owner, with the ability to independently manage the kitchen when necessary. Collaboration with fellow chefs and supervision of kitchen assistants will be part of your responsibilities, along with adhering to established guidelines for ingredients, recipes, and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Selecting and preparing ingredients (washing, cutting, mixing, etc.)
  • Conducting quality checks (doneness, taste, color, etc.) and making necessary adjustments
  • Ensuring consistent quality and hygiene standards
  • Supervising kitchen assistants and providing corrections as needed
  • Managing stock levels, ordering ingredients, and verifying deliveries
  • Daily cleaning of the work environment, kitchen equipment, and workstations
  • Reporting technical issues and addressing minor problems
  • Offering input on menu composition and adjustments

Requirements

  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong sense of responsibility and conviction in your work
  • MBO-3 work and thinking level (if you don’t meet this, we still encourage you to apply!)
  • Proven knowledge of basic cooking techniques
