The Role

Join our innovative platform as the first Frontend Engineer in Europe, where you'll play a crucial role in shaping our frontend development. You'll design and build responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React JS, while integrating AI-powered features to enhance user experience.

The Role

In this position, you will take ownership of frontend development, collaborating closely with backend engineers to optimize API performance and ensure seamless interactions. You will also implement and maintain design systems and reusable component libraries, focusing on performance optimization for video-first discovery and booking flows.

Responsibilities

  • Take initiative as the first frontend engineer in Europe, laying the groundwork for future growth.
  • Design and develop responsive user interfaces using React JS and related technologies.
  • Integrate AI-driven personalization and recommendations into the frontend experience.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to enhance API design and performance.
  • Maintain design systems and reusable component libraries for scalability.
  • Optimize frontend performance, including rendering, loading, and caching.
  • Ensure accessibility and cross-device compatibility.
  • Conduct experiments with Statsig to validate frontend flows and improve conversions.
  • Work with product and growth teams to translate experiment findings into scalable features.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests for quality assurance.
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and documentation to uphold code quality.
  • Stay informed on frontend tools and best practices, contributing innovative ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–5 years of frontend development experience with React JS.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with a focus on clean and maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with frontend libraries/frameworks like Redux, Axios, and Material UI.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library.
  • Understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma or Sketch.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an AI-first environment and willingness to engage with experimentation frameworks.
  • Self-starter attitude, ready to establish best practices as the first frontend engineer in Europe.
