The Role
We are seeking a Firewall Engineer to maintain, secure, and enhance our firewall infrastructure. In this role, you will manage complex incidents, support automation efforts, and ensure that configurations are consistent with our system of record, blending operational support with engineering and DevOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage escalated incidents and troubleshoot intricate firewall issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and support problem management initiatives.
- Design and maintain automation for upgrades, policy deployment, and backups.
- Implement changes utilizing Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure configuration consistency and prevent drift.
- Support firewall upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Contribute to security compliance and audit activities.
Requirements
- Over 5 years of experience in firewall engineering.
- Strong expertise in enterprise firewall platforms (e.g., Check Point, Fortinet).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, NAT, and VPNs.
- Experience with Linux networking.
- Hands-on experience with automation (preferably Ansible).
- Proficient in Git.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with CI/CD and API-driven automation.
- Knowledge of cloud integration (e.g., AWS).
- Familiarity with high-availability environments.
