The Role

As a Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer, you will join the Global Data Centres Services department, specifically the OPS2 team. This team is responsible for all activities within the white space of the ING Data Centres, ensuring optimal usage and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall capacity planning for power, cooling, space, and networking to optimize Data Centre usage.
  • Manage physical access and security to all data halls.
  • Supervise and coordinate physical IMACD activities (Install, Move, Add, Change, or Decommissioning of ICT infrastructure) and verify the work performed.
  • Install and maintain Power Distribution Units in the data halls.
  • Manage applications such as Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and Lock management.
  • Automate processes and applications.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch.
  • Diploma in IT, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety standards, preferably NEN3140 (VOP Minimum, VP preferred).
  • Valid VCA certification.
  • Valid driver's license (B) and willingness to travel between data centre sites.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when necessary.
  • Ability to lead projects, create work instructions, perform quality assurance, and assist team members.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a hands-on attitude and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Proven experience in data centre infrastructures, such as rack and stack, cold/hot aisle containment, and structured cabling.
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber optics: installation, splicing, OTDR testing, troubleshooting (SingleMode and MultiMode OS2/OM4/OM5).
  • Strong diagnostic skills in physical and data link layer networking, including resolution of port failures and signal degradation.
  • Familiarity with cable documentation standards and physical network design principles.
  • Previous work experience in Electrical Engineering is an advantage.
