As a Second Officer on our Water Injection Dredgers, you play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of vessel and dredging operations. You will assist the Captain and Chief Officer with navigation, positioning, and bridge watchkeeping, while actively participating in dredging activities. In this highly automated environment, you will combine your nautical expertise with a practical approach, working closely with colleagues on deck and on the bridge to deliver reliable results on every project.

Your Impact

You will be instrumental in the safe and efficient operation of both the vessel and the dredging process. As part of a small crew, you will take responsibility for various activities and collaborate with your colleagues to ensure smooth operations. The unique aspect of this role is that you can often see the immediate impact of your work. Your responsibilities include:

• Maintaining a safe and efficient bridge watch in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
• Supporting the Captain and Chief Officer with navigation and vessel positioning.
• Assisting with and monitoring the water injection process to achieve optimal operational performance.
• Preparing and coordinating deck activities during your watch.
• Recording operational data and preparing accurate reports.
• Collaborating closely with the crew to support safe and efficient vessel operations.

About You

You are a maritime professional who takes ownership and thrives in a dynamic operational environment. You remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and understand the importance of teamwork in achieving safe and efficient operations. You feel comfortable working in a small crew where flexibility and cooperation are essential. You possess the following qualifications:

• Valid Certificate of Competency Officer of the Watch (STCW II/1) and associated certificates.
• Preferably experience within the dredging, offshore, or maritime sector.
• Affinity with operational processes and automated systems.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Proactive, safety-conscious, and able to respond effectively to changing situations.
• Experience with Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems is an advantage but not required. Our WID vessels are equipped with DP, providing you the opportunity to gain basic DP knowledge on board.
