The Role

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor CNC Swiss-type lathes for precise part manufacturing.
  • Load raw material bar stock into machine feeders and ensure proper setup.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Make necessary offset adjustments to maintain part specifications and tolerances.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and fluid level checks.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine alarms and operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Document production output, scrap rates, and quality control data.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience operating and setting up CNC Swiss Lathes.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, comparators).
  • Ability to perform tool offsets, changeovers, and basic machine troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code for CNC machine operation.
  • Proven commitment to quality control and attention to detail in a manufacturing setting.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
  • Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software for program review or minor edits.
  • Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance on CNC machinery.
  • Experience with other CNC machine types (e.g., mills, grinders) or multi-spindle machines.
  • Participation in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
