The Role
As a Firmware R&D Engineer, you will design, implement, test, and certify embedded firmware that enables real-time industrial communications across various fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet protocols, including EtherCAT, PROFINET, and OPC UA FX (with TSN profiles). You will work closely with hardware engineers to optimize system performance and reliability, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with protocol specifications and functional safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded firmware for industrial communication protocols.
- Maintain software for embedded systems, ensuring integration with fieldbus protocols.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to uphold software quality standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet compliance and performance requirements.
- Develop unit tests and create development/debug tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in C/C++ programming.
- At least 2 years of experience with MCU or embedded systems, including knowledge of GPIO and serial/parallel communication.
- Proficiency in FreeRTOS and RT-Linux is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to innovate.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or Mercurial is a plus.
- Background in industrial automation and automatic control is advantageous.
